Our roots and our history

From a one-room office to a global operation – the history of our company, of item, started in 1976 in the German city of Solingen. In a tool shop at the back of the office premises, two young and ambitious engineers – Gerrit Pies and Wolfgang Rixen – laid the foundation for item Industrietechnik. A branch opened in Italy as early as 1992, with successful results. Continuous growth led item S.r.l. to look for larger premises in 2008.
